The documentary follows Van Mayes, an activist on Milwaukee’s north side, as he talks to police officers, elected officials, and community members about police relations, working with disenfranchised youth, and where we are as a city. Heavy is the Crown is slated to be released in 2025 through docUWM and Director Sean Kafer.
I am the lead editor for Dr. Finlayson: A Life of Service, a short film documenting the life of one of Milwaukee’s first black doctors, Dr. William Finlayson. Through interviews with Dr. John Ridley Senior, Reggie Finlayson, and Dr. Finlayson himself, we document his life story from the early stages to the city naming a street after him. Dr. Finlayson: A Life of Service is slated to release in early 2025 through docUWM and Director Sean Kafer.
